Courtney Shanade Salter, born on March 26, 1991 often referred to professionally under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female to be signed for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The first album she released for the label on Oct. 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she started to gain fame. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio album came out on May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012 with her debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014, she released additional music on the internet including Bound. On 21st of July 2015, Omen was featured on Elephant Eyes the track"Sweat it Out.. J. Cole was interested in her talent and wanted to collaborate in conjunction with Rihanna. Her announcement to be signed to Dreamville Records was made on the 8th of December. On the album Revenge of the Dreamers II, she appeared on the song Backseat along with Cozz. The singer released Pho, her debut EP on the 21st of October in 2016. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change and also performed in her own 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as opening performance. In 2018 she went on to appear on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. A music video was followed by a music video in September. In November, she released her singles forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. Two singles more were released by her on 11/13 Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby was released in her debut single February 26, 2019 for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared along with Cole in her Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. A music video was released on February 20, 2019 to go along with the track. Within one week, it had over 3 million views. In December 2018 she performed on her From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
